Patricia da Costa Avelar
Biography
Patricia da Costa Avelar is speech and language therapist since 2006 (Bachelor of Health, NL) and completed her master examination in Teaching- and Research Logopaedics (Master of Science, DE) in 2011 at the RWTH Aachen University. During her work as clinician, she took trainings in the field of fluency disorders.
From 2019 until 2022 she was research associate at the Department of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy und Psychosomatics, Medical Faculty of the RWTH Aachen University where, she participated in the research project PMS KIDS, a randomized clinical trial about the effectiveness of stuttering modification treatment in school-age children who stutter. Since then, she is member of the ivs (Interdisziplinäre Vereinigung der Stottertherapeuten e.V., DE). Since 2022 she is lecturing at the Department of Speech Therapy at the Training Academy for Health Professions at the Uniklinik RWTH Aachen in the field of Stuttering, Conversational Skills and Pragmatic Language Impairment.
